hooray! i had my one and only paper this semester yesterday, which means that i am free to play for about 1 month plus before the second semester starts! yay! :)

feeling a bit bored though because my friends are still having their papers and there's no one to go out with. so i went to town alone yesterday. i had a purpose though, to buy a book from borders. had i had no purpose, i don't think i'd be wondering town alone. i walked alr, bought my stuff and also sat down at MOS burger for a drink and fries, reading one chapter of my novel. i don't like loneliness but a bit of time alone is fine i guess. i still wish that i had someone to do things with. anyway....

other than going to hk, having dance practices and ihg trainings, i think i would like to read a few books during the holidays. at least finish up my latest book, the tenth circle by jodi picoult and blink by malcolm gladwell and freakonomics by er not sure who. these are the 3 new unread books that i have on hand.

i hope the hols will be fruitful.

I want to go DISNEYLAND! or some amusement park!

My textbook examples on waiting lines and queues kept mentioning Disney. It's been a while since my last visit!!!

2x to Disney Japan
2x to Disney Anaheim

The reminiscing of my childhood! Haha...

Yesterday was the first result show (hence elimination) of this second run of Project Superstar (PSS). I'm glad Dawn wasn't eliminated. I don't want her out yet. Honestly, it's not because I think she's better than the rest but I guess it's a affinity thing. Like how she's been my friend for years despite us not being very close. We've been in the same secondary sch, jc and track team mates for those 6 years. We were in a way always in the same clique in school even though we weren't the closest of friends. Being objective, I don't just hope she gets through because she's my friend. I guess it's more because I know how much she wants it. I guess this search for stardom was always on her mind and she wanted to make it happen. Perhaps all the other contestants too, but I'm definitely "rooting" for Dawn because I don't know the others and don't have a fav yet. Haha. Speaking of which, I haven't spoken to Dawn in ages and I didn't even drop her an sms to wish her luck for this PSS. Maybe I should.

Anyway, Angie, my friend since Primary school, is the star blogger for this PSS and it's given her mini stardom as well! Some say that she's more popular than most/some of the PSS contestants and I think it's true, going by the threads in the forum and her blog hits. (They even want to see her sing and take part in PSS3!) The best part is that she'll not be eliminated!

It's really funny to read people commenting about your friends who are in the "spotlight". They probably don't know them the way I do or they probably don't even know them. Some things are accurate yet some are just nonsense and unjust. But that's entertainment and show biz I guess - You can't win everyone over. (This applies in life too)

For the bored, interested, kpo people and friends like me, here's their official PSS2 blogs and do remember to catch PSS2 on Channel U. Hahaha.. (Sounds so much like an advert but oh well.)

what do you do (or could do) when you're alone, bored and don't wanna study?

1) surf friendster - uploaded a few photos just for fun, submitted a photo and testimonial for my dearest siding. i guess this shows how bored i am because i seldom write friendster testimonials. haha

2) surf blogs - browsed through my usual list of blogs which i keep in my favourites for easy reference and there were 2 thought-evoking blogs of the day.

for the first time in months, i clicked on the link to Pat's blog. the hurt and pain isn't raw anymore but i still miss her. despite knowing that there won't be any more updates, i still clicked on the link but i couldn't bring myself to read her posts. i guess i just wanted to feel a part of her. i have deleted her mobile number on my mobile sim card but that was because i was organizing the contacts and have lack of space. but i have yet to delete her contact on my msn. i guess these will take more time.

my bro's ex-girlfriend seems to have a new guy. i didn't really know her but i liked her. i'm happy for her but i felt a little weird. it's not because my bro ain't happy and it's been months since they split i think but i guess in the general sense, when someone really moves on, it means that the last chapter has really closed and a new has begun. i know people don't have to have a new partner to move on, but it's the most visible and credible symbol/rite of passage maybe.

3) blog AGAIN - this is the 2nd time today

4) nap - but i really don't want to, i hope i don't because i want to re-adjust my clock but you know when there's nothing you want to do, you might just lie on your bed and before you know it, you're in dreamland.

5) finish up my novel - am currently reading Nora Robert's Daring to Dream. it's my sis's old book and the cover is falling apart. there are a few other reads i hope to finish in december. they are buys from the recent penguin book sale at expo! Blink and Freakonomics. (only $8 each)

6) study - i'll study when i've really ran out of things to do, have been idle for too long or start to panic. i forsee that this will happen tonight, when my neighbours are back. (neighbours, please come back soon!!!)

i finally caught The Prestige on Saturday night after a failed attempt on Thursday evening.

the first attempt on Thursday was foiled when there was a small electrical fuse in our cinema hall at GV Marina. it was about 15, 20 minutes into our show and there was this foul smell like burning plastic. eventually the hall was evacuated and we were given cash refunds plus a complimentary ticket for the booking fee incurred.

the successful attempt on Saturday was assisted by the failed attempt. we were slightly late for our show and when we entered the cinema, Cathay Orchard Cineleisure this time round, the show had already begun. thankfully, we had already caught the first 20 minutes and was not lost.

it's a really good show. i liked it but it's run in the movies is ending so those who have yet to watch the prestige, hurry! or wait for the dvd or something hehe. and.. i love hugh jackman. haha.. i realised that the last show i watched, Scoop, starred him too and it was fantastic. and hey, he voices over in Happy Feet too. Happy Feet (the penguin animation) seems funny, i think i might try to catch that too.

countdown: 1 week to exam!

this has been the third consecutive week of Risk - total world domination. however, this time, ding and cheeks didn't play because they were hardworking and decided to study. the usual peeps were me, phong, meng, gillie and wj. with guest appearance by kimmy.

it's really fun and addictive but towards the end when the game moves really slowly and it's so early in the morning, everyone is tired and just wants to end the game. (except for phong and lorrie) despite knowing the outcome - a losing battle, i just wanted to see the end of game. hence, when i (3rd remaining person) was eliminated, i took over from sleepy meng and continued the battle with phong. it was pure madness and silliness with the two of us rolling the dice till 7plusam but i guess we reckoned that we were only "this" close from finishing up the game proper hence we continued the play. our only spectator was wingkit who also didn't want to hit the sack because he wanted to stay till the end too! haha

i really enjoy these game sessions with the bunch and i can't imagine how boring my life would be without them. i really don't know how tight our friendship is but i certainly hope that we don't lose touch when we all graduate.

anyway, i really need to tune back my bio-clock. it's really quite topsy and it's definitely unhealthy and not good for my studying plans next week! so i guess i will try to sleep less now so as to sleep at a reasonable time tonight. please let me be disciplined.

well, i updated my IE just yesterday and the fonts look different now. i guess it's asthetically supposed to be more pleasing, i like it but still ain't used to it. i guess tt's one reason why i'm blogging -> to see the fonts. the other is because i'm feeling like i have more time on my hands. haha. one down, one more to go. just about 1.5 weeks left. whee! i better make sure i make the most out of this 1.5 weeks. i need the time because this module isn't exactly one that i'm comfortable with. slowly but surely...

having said that, after my class and test today, i wanted to catch up on prisonbreak. but booo.. the link my bro sent me to watch season 2 isn't working, and my friends who'd probably have the episodes weren't ard. but i had to "reward" myself and i wasn't about to start studying yet. so i started watching "1 litre of tears" on youtube. bobby sent me this link days ago and now i've finished episode 3. it's a sad japan drama and yes, it'll make you cry.

it's so lorrie. haha. youtube, tv, dramas, crying. gosh. okay.. back to my show. i'm a addict and i can't stop when i know i can spare that bit of time. hehe. booo..

(to cheryl: nice spotting you while on my way back today! glad u waved! ahaha :))

thanks to everyone who expressed concern regarding tping. i appreciate it a lot. especially knowing that friends are around and that they care - it's a nice feeling. i'm all good and have accepted and got over it. life and death all part of life.

my sis bought a new phone today. the sony ericsson k800i. it's pretty. i'm thinking if i should change mine too. hmm..

anyway, yay! i survived last week. i don't know how i fared but it's over! now i'm looking towards the global marketing test this tuesday and my final service om exam on the 28th. then off to hk for a 1-week holiday and it's dance and ihg trainings for the rest of dec. oh yah, and perhaps some job search and meeting up with friends from overseas!! (p.s. fling!!)

alrighty, still the same old lorrie, with love :)

teaping and i
tping passed away last Sunday night. i saw it in one corner when i got home and before bed, i saw it in the same corner. deciding to "disturb" him, i put my hand and usually he would react. he didn't. he was "sleeping" under the wheel so i turned the wheel and the wheel brushed his head. he still did not move. i was sad. i know i have not been a good owner especially in the last few months. i don't think i can keep pets. but tping was really special to me.

tping was kinda like my first pet. i've had others before. but tping was the first one which i decided on my own to get, and it was the first one which i fully took care of (until the last few mths). i was apprehensive if i wanted it more than 2yrs ago because i don't exactly love pets/hamsters. i just wanted a companion. someone, something to fill my void. the emptiness i had. and tping did that. when i was lonely or sad, i could talk to him. although (of course) he couldn't reply, i felt like he was there for me. when i needed to take things off my mind, i could play with him or clean his tank. i guess to a certain extend he helped me go through a difficult time. i guess in the past few mths, i took tping forgranted and i didn't need him in that way that often anymore. in the past 2 yrs, i grew stronger, i learnt, but i also closed myself up to a certain extent i think. the initial void/emptiness is still there but it is not as vulnerable as before. tping witnessed that. rest in peace tping. you were a strong hamster (he outlived the others in his generation!). you were an understanding pet and i really loved you.

on that note, i think i don't know how to express my love for others anymore. sometimes i'd rather keep to myself my feelings and although actions speaks louder than words, i don't let my actions show it. thus the sad outcome of me being stronger. i don't know if i prefer this. i think i actually dislike it. but... i guess i'm thinking that sometimes it's only necessary.

moving on
i have been working on my projects and presentations. so far it has taken my time reasonably, leaving the rest for some trainings and dance practices. spare time to sleep and free time to watch Prison Break. Prison Break is addictive and each episode ends with a cliffhanger so you'd want to continue watching. it was definitely not a good time to begin watching but i wanted to "reward" and take a "break" after the submission and presentation of a project on wednesday. oh well, just means that i need to have a bit more control for the next few weeks such that i watch sparingly and responsibly bearing in mind the other assignments left.

played my first game of "Risk" yesterday with WJ, Phong, Meng, CheeKiat, Siding and Gillie. it was thrilling but i guess only more so towards the end. in the beginning, it just seemed slow and like a game of luck but when there were only 4 left in the game, and we had split into alliances of 2 each, it felt like the real game had begun because luck and strategy really matter. in the end, my alliance with cheekiat failed and WJ and Phong dominated the world haha. i really enjoy these board game sessions thus far. this was like our 2nd one, the first was at Settlers Cafe @HV weeks back where we also spent 4hrs playing "Cashflow". Are board games for bored people? Hahaha.. It's fun but takes up so much time. Once in a while I guess.. :)

the week ahead:
monday 6nov - service OM project report submission
tuesday 7nov - service OM project presentation
wednesday 8nov - consumer behaviour paired presentation
thursday 9nov - culture&management indiv. proj report submission + class test

after these 4 crucial days, only 2 more lie ahead. global marketing 40% quiz on 14nov and service OM 40% exam on 28nov. that would wrap up this semester, my 2nd last in NUS. how time flies.
